As you and your friends clean out your attics and basements, please put aside things for our AAUW Yard Sale which will benefit The Cortland Child Development Council’s Emergency Scholarships for Child Care. The sale will take place in August or September.
As we find storage space for items, we will let you know.

Here are a few helpful hints:
NO CLOTHING (take to Rescue Mission)
NO APPLIANCES OR EXERCISE EQUIPMENT OVER 7 YEARS OLD (EXCEPT RECORD PLAYERS)
NO MATTRESSES, NO CAR SEATS, NO TIRES
NO STUFFED ANIMALS UNLESS IN ORIGINAL PACKAGING
NO HAZARDOUS WASTE (as defined by the Environmental Protection Agency)–paints, stains, varnishes, cleaners, pesticides, motor oil, or car batteries
Pricing Tips: 10% of original value or not more than 30% for a higher quality item. People will ask for a lower price and they will get it because we don’t want anything left!
DVDs, CDs, Suggested price: $0.50 to $3 each for DVDs and CDs. Records Suggested price: $2
Suggested price: No more than one third of the retail price for used items, or price new items with original packaging at half the original cost
Toys and games Suggested price: $1 to $3 each
Display idea: Consider making a “free” box with inexpensive items for kids who come with their parents to take something home, too.
Lower quality furniture Suggested price: $10 to $30
Sturdy furniture Suggested price: A good rule of thumb is to charge no more than a third of the original price. You can always drop the price if it’s not selling.
Antiques Suggested price: $100 or more WE MIGHT BE BETTER OFF PUTTING IT ON EBAY
Home decor pieces Suggested price: $3 to $5
